From pond to pack
The journey begins with farmers across Bihar and continues through traditional hand-popping, cleaning, Suta grading and quality inspection at our own facility, with further processing and packaging available for finished-product requirements.
Each stage matters because final grade and lot quality depend on what happens before dispatch. Our model keeps farmer sourcing, processing and quality control closely connected.
01 · Sourcing in Bihar
Makhana is cultivated in Bihar's ponds by farmers connected to our sourcing network. Working close to origin gives us better visibility into the raw material entering our supply chain.
02 · Harvesting & drying
Farmers harvest the crop and prepare the seeds before the traditional hand-popping stage.
03 · Traditional hand-popping
More than 100 farmers across Bihar are connected with our sourcing network, including experienced hand-poppers who traditionally process the dried seeds. We use hand-popping because machine popping can crush kernels and affect the grade and quality we want to maintain.
04 · Cleaning, grading & inspection
After popping, the makhana moves into our own facility process for cleaning, Suta grading and quality inspection.
05 · Quality control
Machine cleaning and shining are followed by Suta-based grading and quality inspection. We assess factors including size, moisture, colour, impurities, breakage, insect damage and smell so the lot can be matched to its required specification.
06 · Roasting, flavouring & packaging
We roast, flavour and package finished makhana where the requirement calls for it. Our core supply business is bulk makhana across India and international markets.
Makhanley supplies popped, cleaned and graded makhana across 4 to 7+ Suta grades, with exact lot specifications confirmed for each requirement. We also support roasting, flavouring and packaging for businesses that need finished products. Compare the Suta grades before sharing your specification.
